The Zebra Plant is also known as the 'Fishbone Prayer Plant' because its leaves move between night and day in prayer-style movements.

Looking After Me
Thrives in bright indirect light but can tolerate some shade. Too much or too little light may cause loss of the herringbone pattern and colouration in the leaves
Water & Food
During the warm seasons, water lightly every 1-2 weeks ensuring soil remains moist.
During colder months, allow the top later of the soil to dry so the plants' roots can breathe. Do not feed in winter months.
Humidity & Temperature
They like normal-to-cool room temperature and any humidity.
The Zebra Plant has a fascinating talent. Certain parts of the plant expand and relax during the day, raising and lowering the leaf. This is known as nyctinastic response, and there are lots of theories as to why. Perhaps to deter hungry predators or to reduce evaporation to conserve water. Whatever the answer, it's a behaviour which has evolved over millions of years to give this lovely plant the edge over its competing plants in its native Brazil.
